This village house transformed into a modern and comfortable house by the designer Marta Prats in Spain, was initially only to receive a slight update. Thanks to a new plan, it is now connected to its terrace, a space that was previously unused as access was once uncomfortable. The first thing to do was to reorganize the day area, and change the location of the kitchen, as well as that of the staircase leading upstairs.
Thus in this transformed village house, the kitchen is now next to the living room and the dining room, and offers this easy access to the terrace in this room that was so lacking. The discreet metal and wood staircase leads to the bedrooms upstairs. The decoration is based on neutral tones, embellished with more colorful touches such as red verging on burgundy in the lower part, and beige and pink in the upper rooms. In the living room, the old wood-burning fireplace, which no longer corresponded to current environmental standards, has been replaced by a designer gas fireplace, quite discreet. Most of the furniture was made to measure, in order to make the best use of the existing space. Photo: Stella Rotger. Styling: Solange Van Dorssen
